Many people with Type 2 diabetes are uncomfortable with insulin use, but a new study has confirmed the attitude towards insulin effects treatment and therefore lifespan. Those patients who tended to hope to avoid insulin use also prolonged oral or no therapy instead of taking insulin shots. The study measured doctor records of those patients who were directed to start insulin. It found that nearly 30% refused to begin insulin initially and out of those, less than 40% actually began it. Insulin avoidance can result in shortened lifespan.
