According to UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine a diet of high fat, low carb diet increases life expectancy. Jon Ramsay, a UC Davis professor noticed that mice that ate high carb diets that would be converted to lipids is what the mice were basically living off of. They wondered if a change in metabolism would effect their longevity. It didn’t surprise anyone that the mice did better on a Ketogenic diet, what did surprise him is how much better the mice did, in every area. So far controlled trials in humans have shown health changes for the better as well.
