The Start of an Idea
Although we love our 40 calorie, erythritol sweetened treats and apparently you do too, we’ve tasked our bakers with a tall feat.
Create a muffin and square that is not only very low in calories and carbohydrates similar to our current products, but is also gluten free and sugar alcohol free…oh yeah and it has to taste good.
Our head baker responded with hearty laughter and followed it up with, “Um…you are joking…right?”
To which we replied, “No joke. Do you think it is even possible?”
Finding a Solution
After months of scouring ingredient suppliers, contacting giant producers in the US, little known manufacturers in Canada, and testing multiple variations, a solution was found.
As you know though, just because you can do it, that doesn’t mean it is worth doing. The solution, the recipe, still has to taste superb. It still has to live up to the ThinSlim Foods name. Otherwise it is just a trick to part our customers from their money with tall tales and catchy words.
Turns out, not only was the solution found, but the final product lives up to the ThinSlim Foods name and therein lives up to what you’ve come to expect from us.
The Idea Becomes a Reality
Right now..right this second..yes, now, the bakery is in full production. They are putting the final touches on our first ever batch of gluten free and sugar alcohol free muffins and squares.
Although these new products are not yet available, they will be in less than a week. Make sure to sign up for our newsletter to stay informed.
Flavors: This first test batch will be of Vanilla Muffins, Chocolate Muffins, Peanut Butter Squares, Cinnamon Squares, Banana Squares, and Almond Squares.
Name: The consistency of the product is “sticky” to the touch, but not in your mouth, so we’ve decided to call them Sticky Muffins and Sticky Squares.
Gluten Free: The products are gluten free, but are not yet baked in a gluten free facility. The bakery follows good manufacturing practices by washing the equipment between runs.
Sweetener: There is no sugar alcohol in the muffins or squares. Instead they use a new sweetener that is entirely fiber.
…just because you can do it, that doesn’t mean it is worth doing.
Nutritionals: The products have not yet been lab tested and won’t be until we confirm there is sufficient demand for these to continue producing them. For now, the nutritionals are based on the ingredients and recipe as closely as possible (which is more than can be said for many in the diet industry.) Aa a comparison, the last time we used an estimate, the test results were lower than the estimate.
As a result of the gluten free and sugar alcohol free ingredients, the calories will increase slightly. We expect the products to have 60 calories and 2g net carbs per individual 2oz. item.
