Dealing with diabetes can be challenging at times, but there are ways to make it easier. For instance, it is recommended to stay away from sugary drinks that have little to no nutritional value. Those drinks; such as juice, have something that is called a “glycemic index.” The glycemic index is how sugar gets into the blood quickly, resulting insulin (the body’s natural sugars neutralizer) to be overworked and spike to unsafe levels. Although some diet and reduced sugar drinks may seem like the better option, think again. Diet drinks have the tendency to tricking the body into producing more insulin than it needs. That is because diet beverages contain artificial sweeteners. The best way to avoid unsafe levels of insulin, is to replace one’s fruit juice or soda with water, coffee, or tea. Even if someone replaces just one a day, their bodies will thank them!
