Two Reasons to Opt Out of Baggy Clothes

We’ve all been there – had those days where we just feel “fat.” Maybe you stepped on the scale and were disappointed. Or you may have put on a pair of pants and they fit tighter than you wanted. Whatever led to your feeling larger than normal, it often creates a desire to wear baggy clothes. After all, when you are feeling uncomfortable in your skin, hiding it as best as possible seems the natural thing to do. But, this is never a good idea – for two reasons:

Wearing baggy clothes actually makes you look larger than you are. Although it’s easy to feel hidden in clothes that are too big, it actually works to create a larger appearance overall. Instead, force yourself to wear your clothes that fit – most likely tomorrow you will feel much better about your size and won’t even have the desire to wear baggy clothes.

Wearing baggy clothes hides your body from you. While it does nothing to make you appear smaller to the outside world, it does often work to cover up any imperfections you don’t feel like facing on a particular day. However, if you refuse to face the things you dislike about yourself, what will ever motivate you to change them?

On those days you are unhappy with the way you look, wear your favorite clothes instead. You will look better to others than you would in big baggy clothes, and you will likely make better eating and exercise choices throughout the day.
